Lunches – opportunity to purchase local produce in one of the many artisan stores or call into a mountain refuge during the day (recommendations provided in your app)
What is the food like / Can you cater for specific dietary requirements?
The food along the trail caters for all tastes and dietary requirements and offer the opportunity to enjoy familiar dishes, as well meals and produce unique to the countries and regions we will be travelling through.
Breakfasts include cereals, pastries, and continental style breakfast menu.
Lunches are a self-selected pack-lunch which you pre order the night before and include breads / rolls, cheeses, meats, fruit etc. You can also shop in the small grocery stores and / or choose a mountain refuge to eat in which is a good option on a poor weather day.
Evening meals are varied, depending on the location and the hotel we will be staying in but all locations can cater for guests who want to sample local meals and cuisine or those with specific dietary requirements.
Dinners x 5 – Whilst in Chamonix and Courmayeur we think its fun to explore the towns and sample the local restaurants; from wood fired pizza’s to Michelin dining; you choose your dining experience. Culturally many locals enjoy an ‘aperitif ‘, drink and nibbles around 5:30/6pm which is a fun way to chat about the day and enjoy the vibe.
Baggage transfer – We transfer your baggage (1 bag per person, max 15kg) from Chamonix to Courmayeur and back – meaning you can access clean clothes, swimming gear for spas, and have a resupply half way around the TMB. This works really well as allows you to be very free in between stages.
Gondolas & telepheriques – These are paid for directly, on a pay as you go basis starting from €15 one way. The big mounatin telepheriques such as the Aiguille du Midi in Chamonix & Skyway in Courmayeur can we pre booked on line, however its advisable to check the weather forecast, and only book a few days ahead of time.
Self Guided - how does this work?
Q: What skills do I need for to complete a self guided trek? Experience of full day hikes with signifcant ascents & descents + some multi day hikes and basic navigation skills will mean you quickly adjust to the trail and understand the journey each day. The trails are well signposted, however often there are a number of different routes that lead to the same location, so being able to read a map and use the live mapping app + navigate in poor weather will give you confidence and make for a smoother journey. Before the trip starts you will receive a trip briefing in addition to having access to messaging support via WhatsApp.
Q: Can I book a guide? – Our guides are exceptionally experienced with a passion for sharing the mountains, flora and fauna with you. All qualified and licensed International Mountain Leaders they will bring the trip alive. Please contact us directly to confirm the fee which is calculated dependng on the number of people in your group info@livebreathehike.com
