Our aim today is to take in the summits of Nifflon d’en Haut (1783m) and Nifflon d’en Bas (1648m). These two beautiful mountains offer us door to door hiking direct from the hotel and have all the ingredients for a perfect hike: forest trails, alpine meadows, high mountain terrain and panoramic vistas! Six to seven hours hiking including time to relax or swim, before enjoying a traditional raclette dinner at our hotel.
Starting at the picturesque Lac Vallon (featured in the short film above), we journey around the lake before climbing up through a series of small hamlets; la Basse Meille and la Haute Meille, before reaching the highest settlement of Tré la Saix high up on the alpage at just over 1500m. A further 30 minutes and a short traverse sees us reach our high point of Sur La Pointe (1657m). Far reaching views across the valley from the Mont Blanc massif to Lac Leman. We descend on a circular route to the Col de la Balme and the pretty hamlets of Les Nants and Ermont before returning to finish our weekend and celebrate our accomplishments!
