Mountains and Medinas

Jebel Toubkal (4167m / 13,671ft) is the roof of North Africa and the highlight of our Moroccan adventure, as we journey through traditional Berber settlements and wild mountainous landscape.

We blend exquisite accommodation in Marrakech, with a charming guest house in Toubkal national park, and scenic mountain camps, as we journey through the High Atlas to climb North Africa’s tallest mountain.

Adventure and culture in abundance, we absorb the sites, sounds and smells of this vibrant and diverse country. An optional Hot Air Balloon flight and/or hamman leaves us feeling fullfiled with our North African adventure.

Beginning in Marrakech in a traditional Riad (Hotel), we will have time to explore the walled medina. Highlights include the Musee des Confluences and Le Jardin Secret, both of which are beautiful introductions to Moroccan architecture and craftmanship. Departing Marrakech for the High Atlas we drive for 2hrs before before meeting our trekking crew and organising our mules before starting on the trail. After several hours of hiking we arrive in the small village. where we spend our first night in a traditional adobe/earth stone Guest House in Ait Aissa with views over the Azzaden Valley, and a perfect opportunity for star gazing in the night sky.

Days 3 - 4

From our village we ascend through the Tinzart Valley through high meadows to cross the col of Tizi Oussem (1850m) with far reaching views and passing nomads and shepherd’s along the way. Enjoying lunch near Lepiney waterfalls with a further hour of hiking before arriving at our refuge. The following day after breakfast we hike to the Agulzim pass at 3650m with far reaching views of the Toubkal range before descending to our overnight camp shelters near Mouflon and Neltner (3207m).
